W2W: to Toronto WMCFW

As most of you may know, World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto started yesterday. I do not have the opportunity to attend this year, but am looking forward to reading the reviews from fellow bloggers. If I were to attend, … Continue reading

Snow More

Spring does not appear to be on its way here in Toronto. I woke up this morning not wanting to get out of my pjs and feeling miserable because it was so dark and cold outside. The minute I got home today, I threw on my J. Crew checkered pyjama set (similar to this), robe and warm socks and ducked under the covers in my bedroom with my laptop. A perfect night to watch it snow, and some of my favourite episodes of Sex and the City.

Carrie Bradshaw White Dress

One of my favourite episodes. I love this dress on her. I’d love one for myself.

Sex and the City Carries Halston Dress

Yes, the second movie wasn’t amazing, but the fashion was superb. After seeing this movie, I fell for the Halston Heritage label. I purchased the same dress SJP wore in the movie here and many other fabulous finds that I’ll be posting in the warmer months.

Looking for Leather

I’ve been looking for the perfect leather skirt for ages. I love the leather look and want to add a skirt, pants and shorts to my collection. I already own a gorgeous brown leather jacket, but who doesn’t want a black one too? I’m still on the hunt for these items, but here are some of my favourite styles:
 Looking for Leather
  1. Muubaa, Laser-cut short, $300
  2. J-Brand, RTW Black Leather Pants, $1400
  3. Burberry Brit, Leather Biker Jacket, $1690
  4. Madewell, Shrunken Leather Bomber, $605
  5. Miss Selfridge, Black Leather Skater, $100
  6. A.L.C., Leather Swing Skirt, $855
  7. Alexander McQueen, Leather Classic Skull Box Clutch, $1525
  8. Diane von Furstenburg, Leather Pants, $465

I’ve become a huge fan of the Alexander McQueen Skull Box Clutch. I loved it when I saw and posted about it, here, and am now looking to find one similar, but for a lesser price (of course).

What leather piece are you looking to add to your spring/summer collection?

Lucky Seven

Last week, I mentioned how excited I was to go to the market on Saturday, here, but instead was lucky enough to get a wonderful allergic reaction. I spent most of my Saturday sleeping in and taking antihistamines. Sunday however, was a beautiful sunny (but cold) day spent watching an Irish movie (The Wind that Shakes the Barley) and grabbing a Guinness at the Irish Embassy in the spirit of St. Paddy’s Day. Dinner on Sunday was superb. If you live in Toronto, you must check out my favourite soup and sandwich spot, Ravi Soups.

Hope you all had a wonderful St. Paddy’s Day!

W2W: To the Market

Every Friday, I go to the market with my boyfriend for breakfast. I usually work on Saturdays teaching at a heritage Saturday school and never get a chance to attend the farmer’s market, as it is only run on Saturdays. This Saturday, I don’t have to teach because of the March Break, and am looking forward to a morning at the market.  The St. Lawrence Market in Toronto is one of my favourite places to visit. I can remember being there as a child during the holidays, munching away at the free samples. They’ve got great meat, fruits and vegetable vendors and great places to eat (Buster’s Sea Cove, being my favourite). I find that it’s always best to be comfortable when at the market and to bring eco-friendly shopping bags. My go-to market outfit is almost always boyfriend jeans, loafers, sneakers or moccasins, and a comfy t-shirt, tank, long-sleeve or sweatshirt (depending on the weather). Here’s at look at what I’d wear:To Market

Green with Envy

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. This year, the  Spring 2013 Fashion Week trends included this rich emerald green colour; also extremely appropriate for St. Paddy’s Day. It doesn’t mean you have to go all out and wear head-to-toe in green, but rather, picking one piece and pairing it with black, white or whatever colour you choose. Green With Envy
  1.  Equipment, Fern Green Signature Silk Shirt, $325
  2. Vionnet, Casual Pants, $930
  3. MCQ Alexander McQueen, Goldtone Stud Leather Ballerina, $385
  4. Diane von Furstenburg, New Cahil Dress, $225
  5. MCQ Alexander McQueen, Studded Pointed Leather Pumps, $470
  6. See by Chloe, Silk Top, $135
  7. J. Crew, Miri Mid-heel Suede Pumps, $196
  8. Topshop, Knitted Mix Stitch Sweater, $55
  9. Valentino, Emerald Backless Lace Dress, $6140

My two favourites from this selection are the See by Chloe silk top and Equipment blouse. I love pieces that can be dressed up or down and I can picture both of these with dressy leggings, dress pants, jeans or even shorts. Versatility is key.

*This Valentino dress is simply stunning. I love the cut, design and the elegant lace layer. The back of the dress is to die for! I’d love it in black as well!
